We’re better together

monarc, LLC is a new organization created by The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR) to help expand innovative, inclusive opportunities for people with differing abilities. Because monarc is wholly owned by The Arc NCR, the IRS treats monarc as part of The Arc NCR for charitable giving purposes.

What this Means for Donors

When you make a donation designated for monarc, your gift is legally treated the same as a donation made directly to The Arc NCR. This ensures that your contribution is fully tax-deductible, and that you receive an acknowledgment letter from The Arc NCR that meets all IRS requirements.

How Donations Are Processed


While monarc is in the process of being formally set up to accept and acknowledge donations on its own, all contributions intended for monarc will temporarily be processed through The Arc NCR.

• If you designate your gift for monarc, The Arc NCR will ensure that 100% of that donation is passed through to monarc to support its mission and programs.
• Your donation receipt will come from The Arc NCR, and it will note that monarc, LLC is wholly owned by The Arc NCR and treated as part of the organization for charitable purposes.

This process follows IRS Notice 2012-52, which confirms that donations to a single-member LLC owned by a nonprofit (like monarc) are treated as donations to the nonprofit itself.
